Arrest warrants were issued Thursday for PHS ninth-grade math teacher Megan Trainor, 24, who was suspended from her po sition by Person County Schools’ (PCS) officials Wednesday. Train or has been employed by PCS for three years. PCS officials are also continu ing an investigation into the al leged inappropriate behavior by Trainor. Trainor of 321 Floyd Hicks Rd. in Timberlake is charged in the arrest warrants with a felony count of taking indecent liberties with a minor and a misdemeanor charge of preparing obscene photographs/slides/motion pic tures. The City of Roxboro rolled out its patriotic red, white and blue carpet Friday for the annual Vet erans Day service t the Person County Courthouse. In addition, Boy Scout Adam Moore, who fulfilled an earlier promise, presided over a cer emony dedicating a new Korean War memorial he envisioned and made possible. As a blustery, November wind raked over the assembly. Person High School’s JROTC guard pre sented the colors and Rev. Don ald Daniels of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church delivered the Invocation. Mt. Zion Praise Band member Joey Scott delivered the National Anthem and Kathy Young, director of the Person County Museum of History, pre sided as master of ceremonies. While Young was busy holding down her notes in the gusty condi tions, Angie Brown, president of the museum’s board of directors, was introduced to welcome Per- Adam Moore son County’s own Col. G. Wayne Lunsford. Lunsford, a decorated Air Force combat veteran in Kosovo See\\-\\-\\,PageIO Roxboro police honor military at Wednesday service BY GREY PENTECOST COURIER-TIMES STAFF WRITER grevpentecosf@toxboro-courier.tom “America is not free,” Henry Pennington said during a Veterans Day service Wednesday. “America is expen sive.” Pennington was referring to the sac rifices made and the lives that have been lost in the fight to protect America’s freedom, and as a World War II veteran who served in Gen. George S. Patton’s Third Army, Penning ton knows something about those sacrifices. Both he and Nelson Berryman, a Vietnam veteran and Purple Heart recipient, were the featured speakers at Wednesday morn ing’s Veterans Day service hosted by the Roxboro Police Depart ment (RPD) at the Rox boro National Guard Armory Pennington, a Wilson native who currently resides in Person Coun ty, was also stationed at Dachau Concentration Camp after it had been liberated. He spoke about his time serv ing in World War II, and about some of the atrocities committed by the Nazis.
